Have you damaged and broken your bezel or the ring to hold it into the boot ? No problem. You can get a replacement part. 

Warm your compass boot up with warm water, not boiling water to get the compass guts out. Be gentle and do not use sharp instruments to pry the compass guts out. This is totally DIY with a little care.
